Every custom mylar bag we print is a three-layer laminate: print-receptive PET outer, metallized MET-PET middle for the barrier, food-safe sealant inner that forms an airtight seam under our heat-bar press. The metallized middle layer is the part that actually blocks oxygen, moisture, and light — it's a physical vapor barrier, not a surface coating, and it's the difference between a real mylar bag and a printed poly bag sold under the same name.
Measured barrier performance on our standard metallized film: OTR below 0.1 cc/100 in²/day, MVTR below 0.02 g/100 in²/day — roughly the same order of magnitude as a sealed glass jar. Recyclable PE-PE and PCR film constructions are available for brands with sustainability commitments.
